I can't believe it's been 10 years.
What started out as a hobby has turned into a life-changing career.
I joined SAG back in 2002. Every time I had to get new headshots, I dreaded it. I thought there had to be a better way. I bought my first professional camera in 2005. I tried to capture everything I could, not knowing where it would take me. I started shooting friends in my acting class at Howard Fine and realized it would be people that I would specialize in. I learned that being comfortable in front of the camera is the secret to great shots.
It two years of practice to get enough confidence to even start charging people. I had a day job working for the executive producer of Ugly Betty. One of the actors on the show, Michael Urie, let me shoot with him one day. His publicist called me and said "Did you take these pictures?". Yes mam. "Where is your website?" I don't have one. "Well you better make one, I'm sending you clients." The rest, as they say, is history.
It's been an amazing ten years so far. I've worked with some amazing people ... actors, musicians, models, celebrities, business people and families. I love interacting with people, building their confidence in front of the camera and I hope, a little in life too. We are all in this amazing journey together, so I'm grateful to get to share these moments with so many wonderful, talented people.
